Raymond Grech

Raymond Grech (1953 -     ) was born in Sliema, Malta. He was educated at St. Catherine High School, Stella Maris College and at Sir Temi Zammit Sec. Tech. School.   He started writing poetry at an early age and writes both in Maltese and English. Some of his poems are published in various books and magazines.

He started his business career with the AFM as a Technical Storeman i/c. Afterwards he worked with commercial firms in various positions. For the last fifteen years he has been managing his own firm. Raymond is a Lecturer of computer related subjects. He specializes and consults in Computerized Accounting and Business Administration. He studies the Holy Scriptures, Theology, Psychology and Philosophy.

He is an active member of the Maltese Poets Association and the Maltese Literary Society.   He is a producer and presenter of radio phonic literary programs. In 2004 he won First-Prize in the Malta National Poetry Competition with his poem (Paceville Insomnja). In 2005 he won First-Prize in the Malta National Poetry Competition with his poem (Nostalġija) in the Maltese category respectively. TMIS dated 25th October 2005 reported the event entitled, Winner of National Poetry Contest for second year running. In 2006 he won First-Prize in the Malta National Poetry Competition with his poem (Fossils in My Sanctuary) in the English category. He is planning to publish his first anthology.

The poems of Raymond Grech are published in various anthologies, newsletters and newspapers locally and abroad as well as being aired on radio programs.

He is married with three sons.
